7. Sharing photos online

We all love to share photos of the new baby, wedding or trip with our friends and family. The Web provides us with many ways of doing this. One of the easiest ways is to create web albums. The big names in this field are Flickr, Picasa, Photobucket and Facebook. The advantages of web based photo albums over sending images by e-mail include:-

  • Reduced risk of transferring a computer virus.
  • Images are stored on the web server. This acts as backup storage for your photos.
  • No specialised graphics software is required by the receiver.
  • Photos can be presented in a variety of ways e.g. slide shows.
  • Sites sometimes include editing features.
  • Quality prints can be ordered from some sites.
