Browse on the shelves Genealogy resources are mainly located in the following areas of the Dewey Classification in the Adult Non-Fiction area on Level 1. When researching Genealogy, the Reference Collection is a good place to start. Items in the Reference section are not for loan. Please do not hesitate to ask the Reference staff for assistance.
The Local History Room (Level 2) is another area of information. - Ipswich only. The room is open: Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm). Items in this collection are not available for loan. Printing charges apply for copies made.

Australian Web Sites Australian Family History Compendium - contains information on a wide variety of categories related to genealogy, with a strong emphasis on Australian material. Australian Family Tree Connections Magazine - an independent online monthly magazine for Australian and New Zealand family historians. Australian Genealogy Links - contains useful links to various Australian genealogical websites. Australian War Memorial - holds biographical databases of Australians who died while on active service.. Genealogy with Jenny Brandis - contains lots of useful links to Australian and New Zealand websites with information including cemeteries, ships, passenger lists etc. Interment.net Cemetery Transcription Library - excellent list of Australian online cemeteries. Judy Webster's Genealogy Advice for Australia, esp. Queensland - includes indexes and advice especially for family history in Queensland. Topics covered include immigration records, civil registration indexes, tracing people's movements using electoral rolls, mental asylum records, and wills and intestacies. National Archives of Australia - a vast collection of resources including records, photos, and maps dating from 1901. Allows requests for personal service records. National Library of Australia : Indexes and Databases - Genealogy products available on the web and in the NLA reading rooms. State Library of Queensland (Family History Information & Research Service) - lots of links to online resources and indexes, and guidelines to the use of family history resources at the Library. International Web Sites Ancestry.com - for those researching ancestry from the United Kingdom and Ireland. Resources include the UK Census; Births, Deaths & Marriages databases; Military, and Emigration records. Cyndi's List - contains a comprehensive list of links that point to genealogical research sites online. FamilySearch - this site by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers step-by-step research guidance. Genealogy.com - good site for getting started on genealogy.
