Overdues
In order to reduce the number of overdue loaned library items, Ipswich
City Council has an overdue policy in place for all library borrowers.
- When items are overdue, you have seven days without fine to return
your overdue items.
- If items are still not returned, a 10¢ per item per day
fine will apply.
- Library members whose items are more than seven days overdue will
not be allowed to borrow until overdue items are returned and payment
is made.
- The total cost of the overdues must be paid.
NOTE: You may request a loan extension on items less than a week
overdue by telephone or
in person. Items renewed via our web site MUST be renewed BEFORE the due date.
You will receive notices as follows:
- First notice immediately after the due date alerting you
to overdue resources.
- Second notice when the items have been overdue over 1 week.
You will be alerted to fines of 10¢ per item per day.
- Final notice when the items have been overdue 2 weeks. You
will be alerted that fines of 10¢ per item per day continue
to apply. If the items are not returned within 1 week they will
be declared
lost.
- Lost notice when items have been overdue 3 weeks, charging
the original cost of the item plus an administration fine
of $5.35
per item.

If an item you have borrowed on your membership card is damaged
or has been lost, you will be charged the cost of the item plus an administration
fee for replacement.
