Joining & Borrowing

Membership of the Ipswich Library and Information Service is free to residents of Ipswich City, surrounding Shires and Brisbane City.

To join, applicants must produce identification, for example a driver's licence, health care card, pension card or rates notice, which shows their name and current address. After completion of the Membership Application Form, a library card is issued which allows immediate borrowing.

When using the online catalogue you may use the self-registration form to obtain a temporary membership number which allows you to place reservations on items. You will still be required to produce identification to receive your library card and check out items. To self-register, click on the My Membership tab in the Library's online catalogue, then click on the New User button & complete the form. Self-registration should ONLY be used if you have not registered with the Ipswich Library & Information Service before.
